Hello
Hello! My life in Savannah with Geoff and our dogs Mardi and Tux is a gift each day to be a wife, mother of paws, art teacher, studio owner and artist. Family is important and not too far away in Georgia, Tennessee and Rhode Island (very close in spirit). I love art education, drawing and painting. My love for school keeps me in the studio classroom. In Savannah I can create and continue to bring creativity out in others.
My Story
I grew up in Northeast Tennessee. At that time from a typical youth perspective, the town may not seem like much and now, I see it lacked an early childhood art education yet I love my upbringing. My appalachian world was filled with the cheerfull wallpaper pattern of my childhood bedroom where the Top 40 Hits countdown with pink lip gloss to sing along was a weekly routine. A yellow slip & slide down my green backyard hill each summer was rewarding after a school year of carpooling with boys in a honking yet reliable baby blue station wagon. A ten-speed bike got me through my daily paper route along with a little creek nearby to dream was all I needed to build the momentum for a creative future.
My passion for art and art education was cemented in a foundation that started at East Tennessee State University where I earned a BS in Art Education. The move to Washington DC was spectacular to practice my pedagogy to stay current, listen to my students and reseach best practices. I learned over time that art education evolves just like nature and the timing was perfect a decade later to earn my M.A.A.E. from George Washington University Corcoran School of the Arts and Design. Geoff, my husband who teaches art too and I met in DC where we built a creative life for twenty years. We brought this work to Savannah. Our passion for art education continues as we own Scribble Art Studio Sav. In 2024, I earned my MFA in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design. The passion and joy to create without knowing everything causes me to squint and produce with a dose of spontaneity. My work collects the color in motion of places I have been inspired by pattern and surreal imagery. Thank you for visiting!
